Extreme Weather at Camp Li-Wa

From December 18-29, Fairbanks received three feet of snow accumulation, ice, and freezing rain. Roads were treacherous and local police advised the community to stay home. December’s weather was literally one for the record books.

As a result, Camp Li-Wa had five continuous days of plowing and shoveling snow. Large tree branches fell under the weight of ice and snow and damaged two vehicles. One staff family was 84 hours without power. We are thankful for local volunteers that helped our small staff team dig themselves out!
